Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

You probably thought I forgot about this post this week. I remembered, I just haven't had much time with school ending.

Part of my exam for my Design and Layout class was to create a band flyer. There were many rules. They could talk to each other, just not the teachers. The other part was a written exam. My students did a pretty good job. I took note of the bands I've never heard of before, and have listened to a few.

One flyer that stood out was for a band called Twenty One Pilots. They are an American music duo f(Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun) rom Columbus, Ohio. They started their band in 2009.

They made 2 self-released albums in 2009 and 2011. Then they were signed by Fueled by Ramen in 2012.

They have a mix of piano, sometimes electronic keyboard, synthesizer, drums, vocals and more. Tyler writes poetry-based lyrics. They add rapping to their music to fit the lyrics into the song. I don't usually like rap. Their process is however very interesting.

My favorite song I heard was the following one. Again I'm just not into rap, so this song doesn't have that vibe at all.

House of Gold

Guns for Hands

School Science Fair

If you remember I helped Isaak with his Science Fair Project, and Daddy helped Mica.

Isaak filled up a balloon by mixing vinegar and baking soda.

Mica did a study on evaporation.

Daddy took them to school that morning, which was about a month ago. He helped them set up.

The kids do not find out the winners until the last day of school. It must take them awhile to tally the votes, or maybe they just want to save who won until then.

Each class has a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention.

Both boys got 2nd place. It's funny because Mom helped Isaak, and Dad helped Mica. The boys had to write all their own stuff on their signs. They had to prepare their own experiments to.

Random Tid Bits

  1. I'm not on Instagram. Should I be? I'm on here way too much as it is. Sometimes I feel like a high school girl. Everybody else is doing it. Maybe I should be to.

  2. If you are on it, what do you like it?

  3. I caved and bought hardbound book: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.

    Source
I swear I get into children's books just as much as my kids do. The story started with an award winning app, then lead to an Academy award winning short film, and now it's a book. I simply love the illustrator Willima Joyce's work. He also did the books and TV show Rolie Polie Olie and the book and movie Rise of the Guardians (which I haven't seen).

The book is interesting, sad and happy. It kind of gives you the same feeling the movie Up! does. It's about something gained, and something lost. I've posted the short film before, but if you want to watch it, it can be found here. The boys loved both the book, and the short.

  4. I learned something last week. I learned how to make a downloadable PDF on a blog post. You can sign in with your Facebook account on scribd.com. Upload the PDF, title it, write in a description, save and continue. Then it has an Embed option. Copy the code, paste it into blogger, or Wordpress and you have it. It's much easier than I thought.

  5. It's the last week of school! YAY!

  6. It's the last week of the boy's school. I'd say YAY, but it's difficult keeping them busy. We have Mica in camps most of the summer, but Isaak's not old enough for many of them. I'll say YAY when he is. I'll say double YAY when Mica is old enough to stay home alone some.

6 Piece Bamboo Kitchen Utensils Set Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I'm on a mission to get rid of plastic. I've read so many bad things about plastic. Some of the chemicals companies are using to replace BPA are worse than BPA. Metal is nice, but it scratches pans. I jumped at the chance to review a 6 piece Bamboo Kitchen Utensils Set. We have a bamboo cutting board set, and I just love it. I knew I'd love a utensil set just the same.

There's nothing worse than buying a new kitchen utensil set only to find out the tools are made from low quality materials that only break and become useless in a few weeks. That has happened to me before. I'm happy to say that the 6 piece Bamboo Kitchen Utensil Set is not going to break!

I Decided to Cook up Some Veggies:

Zucchini, squash, and a little bit of tomato. I used my new bamboo fork to break up the veggies, and keep them cooking.

It worked like a charm, and cleaned up great!

Fish, Broccoli and Veggie Mix

Tooth Gap

Isaak lost another tooth. Now he has a top and bottom tooth that are out in the same spot. It just looks so funny, and cute seeing his big gap.

He was super excited last week because he was one of the only kids in his swimming lessons to touch the bottom of the deep end. His coach said to me, "Isaak's ready to move up." I said, "I think we're just going to keep him here because he's happy, and is still pretty young. The other lesson up was just too much for this little guy." We're going to take a swimming lesson break for a bit. Isaak's starting jiu-jitsu next month. We'll go back to swimming, just not right now.

Here's my blurry little swimmer with a big gap smile on his face.

IPurify Colon Cleanse, a Dietary Supplement, Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I am convinced that the detox that I was taking helped me loose weight. I had a few pimples at the start, and towards the end of taking it.

Taking a detox is supposed to help with allergies. Why? Because it cleans your system out. My allergies are still here, but I'm not taking any allergy medicines this year. I have to say that I've always been a huge allergy sufferer. My allergies are better than last year. Last year was miserable! I needed to bust out the inhaler I was suffering so bad. It's scary to not be able to breathe, and have a sneezing snotty attack at the same time.

I'm going to keep watching what I eat, and take this detox:

My Little Cabbage Patch Kids

The moment I saw a Cabbage Patch Kid wig online I wanted to get one. I got one for next Halloween.

Mica spotted it on my dresser, and had to wear it.

He started singing Tomorrow from the movie Annie. He knows who Annie is, but isn't familiar with Cabbage Patch Kids.

Mica left the wig laying around, and Daddy put it on. One thing about Daddy is that he's pretty serious. He dislikes it when I bring sound toys home, hates that I teach the boys how to make toot noises with their hands, and dislikes when I encourage them to sing silly songs. What can I say? I'm annoying, and love to have fun. Here's Daddy in his rare form:

Ridset Review Update

If you have been keeping up with my posts you'd remember I was taking Ridset. It's an all natural body cleanse.

I've never done a cleanse before. I didn't know what to expect. Nothing too drastic happened to make me feel sick. I was a little nervous about feeling ill.

Changes in Me:

  • I have lost 20 pounds. I keep bouncing around 20 to 25 pounds less than I was. I still need to loose more weight. I think that's a great start. It takes awhile to pack it on, it should take awhile to loose it.

  • My allergies are still here, but are much better than last year! Last year I was having issues with allergies and asthma. The combination of those two things are horrible! This year I've had no breathing issues. Just sneezing episodes. Things may have gotten better from the detox. I'm keeping up with the Neti Pot.

  • The people that work at Ridset are amazing! They sent me a whole list of foods to stay away from that actually can stimulate allergies. I've been trying to stay clear of them. I'm not perfect, but I'm trying. The two foods that I was unaware of were bananas and spinach. The foods are:

    Dariry
    Dairy (Cheese, Milk, Yogurt ect.)
    Spinach
    Pineapple
    Processed Meats (Cold Cuts)
    Wheat
    Oats
    Eggplant
    Bananas
    Strawberries
    Black Beans
    Tomato Sauces
    Corn
    Taco Chips
    Granola Bars

  • I have had breakouts of pimples. When I started taking Ridset I had a few pimples on my chest. I also had a mysterious spot on my face. Towards the finish of taking it a few more pimples occurred. To me that's better than getting sick. My body had to show some way of getting rid of toxins.

With Ridset you can eat whatever you want. My diet mainly consisted of:
  • Kale, collard greens, and turnip greens, and mustard greens.
  • Slightly seasoned meat.
  • 1 serving of fruit a day.
  • Tons of water!

A few things about Ridset:
  • It's taken twice a day. An hour before breakfast, and an hour before dinner. You have to wait an hour just to make sure your body is ready to absorb the it's ingredients.
  • It's best to keep Ridset in a cold place like the refrigerator.
  • Main All Natural Ingredients: Black Walnut Hulls Powder, Garlic Bulb Powder, Pau D' Arco Bark Powder, Barberry Powder, Wormwood Herb Powder, Milk Thistle Powder, Burdock Root Powder, Marshmallow Root Powder, Ginger Root Powder and Cramp Bark Powder.
  • Ridset will help you feel renewed, detoxed, and revitalized.
  • It's $39.95 for a 30 day cleanse, $74.95 for a twin pack, and $144.95 for a four/family pack.
Check out Ridset's website, and their facebook page.

WW: Tournament {Linky}

On Saturday we had a busy day. Mica had a Jiu-Jitsu Tournament, Isaak had a play date, and my cousin had a graduation party.

This wasn't for a belt testing. It was an all morning tournament for metals.

Mica got 1st place in his presentation. He had to kick, punch, block, roll (front, back and combination), all while counting in Japanese for the judges.

He got 2nd place for the Samurai Square Push. I was actually more proud of him for this because I saw how hard he worked for it.

Before the Tournament

He had to push that kid out of the taped box using the techniques they've learned. One kid that was up against him was the same height, but ranked higher. Mica won, once, and lost twice. The next round he beat the kid twice, and lost once.

Their upper torso has to get pushed out of the taped square.

He won that second round. I think it must feel really great to get your hand held up for the judges. That means he won out of 3 matches.

Getting his metals.

The obnoxious crazy, toothless brother on the sidelines. :)
