Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

I started doing what I call Sing, Sing a Song Saturday.  I'm going to post one song on Saturdays that the boys or I like.

The song may be part of a movie, a kid's video or just a song we like. I'll try and include why we like it and/or the history of the song/singer.

This week I'm going to show you someone I have no clue what her name is.

A Grandma walked into a drum shop, and started playing the drums. The worker's were amazed at her skills. She's pretty good!

Captain Underpants

Mica wanted a Captain Underpants party. I said, "No." to the friend party, but "Ok." to the family one.

He thought he was going to wear underwear and a red cape for his invites. I just made a vector of his face, redrew the rest of Captain Underpants and changed the color of the background. Then I'll do a banner of underpants at the party. We'll celebrate Daddy's party as well. He has to be ok with whatever theme Mica chooses. Just like I have to be ok with the theme of Emerson's birthday; for my birthday.

I told Mica that he, Isaak and his cousin's can wear underwear on the outside of their shorts, but that they can't run around with just underwear on. He was a little annoyed with me. I told him he was lucky I agreed to the silly theme.

Crazy Dog T-Shirts Review + a Giveaway!

Crazy Dog T-shirts let me select a handful of shirts from their sites. It was a hard decision to make.

I knew I wanted one of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirts because Mica has that as a theme for his friend birthday party coming up. They only sell those for adults, so I decided that he could rock their Youth Turtle Face Shirt from CrazyDogTshirts.com instead. He loves it.

  • Colors: It comes in green and red.
  • Material: It is made of soft cotton. It's light weight, which is great because summer time is hot!
  • Cost: $16.99
  • Fit: Youth Small to Youth XL.

They also sent me an Ask Me For a Hug Shirt for Mica. It's a flip shirt. When I took the photos I completely forgot that it is a flip shirt. There's a bear under there! LOL

Right now this shirt is only available in Men's sizes. There was a slight greasy spot by the wording. It's clear. It came like that. I washed it in cold, and the spot is still there.
  • Colors: This one only comes in this color.
  • Material: It is made of soft cotton. It's light weight.
  • Cost: $18.99
  • Fit: It fits Men from Small to 4 XL. There are additional costs when you buy past XL.
I picked out a Zombie Hands T-shirt for Daddy. He has participated in a Zombie Walk that is held in town around Halloween.

  • Colors: This one only comes in this color.
  • Material: It is made of soft cotton. It's light weight, which is great because Daddy has been painting the house!
  • Cost: $16.99
  • Fit: It fits Men and Women from sizes from Small to 4 XL. There are additional costs when you buy past XL.
I've seen other reviews for Crazy Dog T-Shirts before. I've always entered to win one. I think some of their designs are pretty fun. It seems like there is something for everyone.

The shirts seem to fit true to the size it says. They washed up nice as well.

I didn't realize that they have so many branch stores. I think it's great because it seems like they have different target markets.

Adding Social Media Buttons to Your Facebook Page

I've been trying for some time now to add social media buttons to my Blog's Facebook Page.

It sounds easy enough, but for some reason I was struggling with it. I realized quickly that I'm not the only one struggling with this attempt. I looked on several blog and business pages, that do not have social media buttons.

I was told about an online app site that you can use for free. It sounded so easy in the meeting I went to, but the speaker just told us about. She didn't show us how to use it. I'm a see and do kind of a person, so I came back to do it on my own and failed. I emailed their support team, and they were like, "You want to do what again?" I must not have known what to even ask them. If I didn't know what to ask these people, then I asked myself, What do I google to find answers? Somehow I got it.

I wanted these buttons up for selfish reasons. They are handy if people want to go from you Facebook page to your Pinterest boards without having to search all over for them. I also wanted to figure this out for work. I'm posting weekly for them, and wanted links to the student portfolios, their website and so on. Most importantly I wanted to be able to teach it. Many students have their own FB page for their art, and have FB pages for their clients. Someone should teach them this stuff. It might as well be me.

Finally I got it! I don't know how, but I got it. Once I got it, I got it. I'm going to walk you through step by step as to how I did this.

1. You have to be logged into your own account. Your admin account. For me it would be Alissa Spiehs-Apel, not my blog page. If you do not know how to switch to your personal admin account this is where it's at:

This whole process will not work if you are on your blog or business page.

*Just an FYI I'm using my work page to do this. It's more of a pain to undo what I did on my blog page, only to add it all over again.

2. Go to www.WooBox. I'm sure there are other sites, but this one is so user friendly, and got the job done!

3. Just click on the green button that says, Get Started for Free.

4. It will take you to FB. Make sure that you have the business page, or blog page selected where you want the social media buttons to be on. Below you can see where I changed that. Most of you probably only have 1 page, so it will show up automatically.

5. Now you have to decide what you want to add: Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube? I'll show you how to add Pinterest. The process is the same for the others.

6. Click on Pinterest on the side bar.

7. It will ask you if you want to add Pinterest. Go ahead and click on it. You can always delete it if you change your mind.

8. Put in the last part of your Pinterest address. Leave all the other stuff as its default. Again you can go back and change, or delete this all together.

9. Click on the green box shown above that says: Save Settings.

10. You have to manually go into Facebook. Then change over to your business or blog page.

11. Click on the arrow if you do not see your Pinterest icon. It's where I have the red dot.

12. Once you clicked on that arrow you should see your Pinterest Icon! YAY!

13. Click on it and it will take you to your Penterest Page via Facebook.

All done!

Now there's another step if you want the Pinterest Icon to be customized like I did. You can stop if you like it how it is. Repeat this process for Twitter and others if you like.

Customizing Your Button:

1. In the upper corner of your Pinterest Tab there is a pencil. Click on it and go to Edit Settings.

 2. Go to Custom Tab Image and click on Change.

3. Click on Edit.

4. This is where it gets hairy. Facebook will only let you upload a certain size of photo. I'm coping straight from the source: You can upload a JPG, GIF, or PNG file. The size of the image must be 111 x 74 pixels. File size limit 5 MB. If your upload does not work try a smaller picture. Some of you may or may not be good with file sizes and Photoshop. It's understandable to me. If this is over your head, stick with the icon they gave you.

5. Choose the File you made to fit their size requirements. I just added white on the sides because their image is thin horizontally.

6. It shows up automatically without having to save it.

7. Go back to your Facebook page and see that it's changed!

*If by chance you don't like it. Click on the pencil and go to Remove from Favorites.

See how pretty my Blog Page looks.

Now Excuse me, while I clear my desktop of my many screen shots.

If you like this I can show you next week how to add website links. Google + is one and I have more than one blog I featured this way. I tried over and over again with Blog Lovin'. I could not get it to work at all.

Canning Mustaches

I had a dream last weekend that I was canning with Aunt Terra. Only we weren't canning jam this time.

We were canning Daddy's mustaches. He cut many off over periods of time. We boiled them in water, added the pectin in to preserve them.

They were the perfect little mustaches in mason jars.

It is no lie that I'm a crazy sleeper. I have messed up dreams!

What is the craziest dream you have ever had?

WW: Camp {Linky}

Mica went to a day camp called Hummel Park Day Camp for a week. There are many groups inside the camp. It was the first time the youngest group was awarded for their enthusiasm and hard work; the award was called "The Hummel Cup". This award stays at the camp. I don't know what we'd do with it at home. Mica was pretty excited!

Every day he was sweaty and muddy.

Each kid inside their group won different awards based on what they were good at. Mica won the Robin Hood Award for the best archery skills. I guess my little man can shoot a bow and arrow pretty good!

Vocabulary

Mica's always had a very good vocabulary for his age. Since he's started reading he asks what some words are. Most words he gets right. He does WAY better than I did when I was his age. A few words stick out, and I'm thinking, "What?"

Then when I understand what he is asking. It's just so cute. I almost don't want to correct him. I do though. He wants to know the word, and what it means.

The first one is "Revens". What he meant to say was, "Ravens". It's a Lego Chima thing.

The next one is "Leo Nart O". What he meant to say was "Leonardo". I think I like his version better. He's talking about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, but I think it sounds very artsy with the "Nart" in there. It's much more Leonardo da Vinci. By the way I'm quizzed every other day on what turtle I like best? I really could care less! I usually say, "Michelangelo" just because at one time I thought it would be cool to name Mica, "Michelangelo" and call him "Mica" for short. Daddy didn't dig that at all. The boys fight over who likes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that most. Mica thinks there is no way that Isaak could like them as much as he does. I tell them it's a lost argument, they just need to understand that they both can like the turtles.

Mica asked me what "Ver trict" means? I had trouble with that one! I had him spell it. He spelled out "Verdict". It was in reference to a cartoon he was reading. No clue which one. That one is a hard one to explain to. I explained it in terms of someone possibly doing something bad, if it's decided that they are guilty that is their verdict. If they decide they didn't do anything bad their verdict would be innocent.

The next one he asked me was what's "Ass on d"? I looked at what he was reading and could tell right away what that word was supposed to be. It's supposed to be "Assassinated". He was reading this book:

Are there ever words you don't want to correct your kids or grand children from saying wrong? I find some words so cute, that I don't want to correct them.

Confession: I used to take Isaak to McDonalds to hear him say, "MickerDonalds". It was just so stinking cute. I know I'm probably going under for taking him to that processed food place.
