Crepes

I made Crepes this morning. I put a little spin on the classic recipe. I wanted to see what they tasted like with almond milk instead of cows milk, olive oil instead of melted butter and part coconut flour instead of all all-purpose flour. They turned out to be really yummy! *Go here to win coconut flour!

So I'm sure the added Hershey's Chocolate Syrup isn't the best for you, but hey I tried to improve the rest of the recipe.

Isaak liked them! ;)

Whistle Part 2

Daddy finally figured out the source of Isaak's attempt to the two finger whistle. The Cat in the Hat Who Knows a Lot About That! is the culprit. Daddy said that Isaak is trying to do what the Cat in the Hat does to get someone's attention.

Image sources found here.

Isaak puts in two fingers in his mouth and make a high pitch, loud noise. It's more like a scream then a whistle. At least we know where he's learned this trait now.

Suspicious Mark

Mica's had a suspicious mark on his cheek for around 4 weeks. It wasn't a scratch, it wasn't a bruise. We really were not sure what it was.

We have washed his face plenty, but were sensitive to that one spot. It just looked painful. Well Daddy took him to the doctor today. He just scrubbed Mica's suspicious spot with an alcohol wipe. It was practically gone.

Now we can see a faint scratch.

Copay + time = 5 min from the doctor. That's how it goes sometimes. He got his flu mist out of the way while he was there to. The doctor asked Mica if he wanted the shot or the mist. Of course he picked the mist. I'm more pro the shot.

Tropical Traditions Coconut Flour Review and Giveaway

Tropical Traditions sent me Coconut Flour to review and giveaway!

I decided to try and make Chocolate Chip Cookies. They turned out more like Chocolate Chip Nuggets. I changed the name of my recipe. They are just as good as cookies, but are healthier. Tropical Traditions Coconut Flour is organic, full of fiber and protein. Much healthier then All Purpose Flour! It works great for things like brownies, muffins and cakes! The package comes with a recipe on the back for brownies.

My little helper was Isaak. He put all the ingredients in the mixer. In this picture, he's getting ready to dump in the Coconut Flour.

I used a metal scoop to form the nuggets. The scoop size can vary depending on how big you like your desserts.

This is what they look like when they are finished:

Isaak polished off 2 small Chocolate Chip Nuggets. He wanted more! I packaged a big plate for work. They went FAST! A couple people were interested in the Organic Coconut Flour.

A Little Bit O' Information About This Flour:
  • It is fiber from coconut meat. The oil is extracted to make Virgin Coconut Oil. *The extra fiber I'm sure is why my cookies stayed in the form of nuggets. Like I said it can be used for cakes, muffins and brownies. The Chocolate Chip Nuggets were different, fun and tasted really good! I usually learn more about the product after I've tried it out.
  • It is certified organic.
  • I love that it is unsweetened.
  • Since Organic Coconut Flour contains natural sugar from the coconut meat, baked goods need less sugar added. I actually added less sugar to my recipe.
  • This product has not been treated with sulfites.
  • Is high in dietary fiber and protein.
  • Is 100% gluten-free.
  • You can use it to thicken up sauces and soups. Some people add some to smoothies for added protein.
  • It smells so good!
  • It was packaged well! They actually put it in two thick plastic bags.

Panda

Isaak has a FurReal Panda. He drinks a bottle, gets the hiccups and snores.
He hasn't played with him in awhile. Yesterday I got him out. Isaak was giddy to have his "CUTE PANDA BABY!"
His panda bear started snoring. Isaak laughed and said, "That sounds like Grandpa sleeping!" Yep my Dad, Grandpa Spiehs likes to take a lot of naps!

Nursery Rhyme Day

Isaak has to dress up for a nursery rhyme character for school. We have lot of play/dress up clothes for boys, but none of them really line up to nursery rhymes. Uggg! As if figuring out Halloween costumes isn't hard enough!

If you can think of a nursery rhyme that fits any of the following, I'll be happy:
  • Pirate
  • A Davy Crockett type character {we have a hat}
  • Doctor
  • Bear
  • Dinosaur
  • Cowboy
  • Sheriff
  • Super Hero
Is Davy Crockett considered a nursery rhyme character? Then there's also this nursery rhyme that I've never really heard of:

Davy Davy Dumpling,
Boil him in a pot;
Sugar him, and butter him,
And eat him while he's hot!

Mica was this Little Jack Horner:

[LilJackHor3.jpg]

I suppose I could have Isaak be that. I made a plum to fit on Mica's thumb. Then he took a baked pie for a treat. The name tag said: "Little Jack Honer. I'll need help going potty today."

I just was trying to think of ideas. This is so hard with boys!!! I wish I had a puppy costume. Isaak could be the little dog that laughed in Hey Diddle Diddle.

Ideas are welcome!!!

Swinging

This weekend we celebrated Grandma Spiehs' birthday and Uncle Eric's birthday. We decided that it would be best to leave Mica with Daddy. They both didn't feel too good. I just didn't want to chance Great Grandpa Kent and Cousin Emerson to get the cold we have. As it turned out, Mica did pretty good most of the day; a day later Isaak got the cold. This time a year we just can't win with that!

Isaak went outside with his cousins: Ethan, Evan and Elijah.

Isaak with Ethan. His oldest boy cousin. He belongs to Aunt Angela.
Grandpa Spiehs is pushing cousin Elijah. Cousin Evan was doing the butterfly swing with Isaak.
Watching them get down was interesting.

Isaak didn't know what to think of no one swinging with him. He decided to swing himself (Isaak style).

WW - Fedora {Linky}

Isaak LOVES his new hat! If you want to enter a giveaway where I got this hat, you can enter here. They have a lot of cute things besides hats as well! I just happened to love the fedora!

I Got My Flu Shot Today

My question of the day is, do you get one? I know some people are pro flu shots, some think they do nothing and others are anti shots.

I air on the side of caution. CAUTION meaning, preventing me from getting deathly sick. I get sick a lot from being a mom, a teacher and having allergies. I just don't want the risk of getting influenza. If a shot can prevent that then I'll get one.

I've known two people that have had influenza and it wasn't pretty. My co-worker that got it had thyroid issues and along with that had eye problems. It was horrible. My husband got it and missed 2 weeks of work.

I was a skeptic about shots when my boys were younger. Mica got his staph infection a week after getting his vaccines and Isaak got his meningitis two days after getting his vaccines. For awhile I thought maybe my boys had some rare reaction when it came to their vaccines. Mica had an ear infection on the same side as his staph infection. Isaak could have gotten meningitis anywhere. I pushed all my skepticism aside.

Now I'm thankful that we have the vaccines we do today. Grandma Spiehs had Polio when she was a little tike. It's been a real problem in her life. Vaccines prevent things like that.

When I got my shot today Isaak was with me. He said, "Momma are you scared to get a shot?" I said, "No honey. It really doesn't hurt that bad. It's like a little sting." He said, "Oh. Will you cry?" I said, "Nope." Then he said, "You will get a sticker when you are all done!" I said, "Nope. Only kids get stickers. Not adults." He said, "Oh." I think he felt sorry for me that I didn't get a sticker for being oh so brave.

The boys are getting their flu shots later this month. The nurse asked if I wanted them to have the flu mist or the shot? The shot is what I went with. The boys won't like that decision, but I know they will in fact get it. With the flu mist...well they won't even blow their noses; I doubt they will suck in a mist effectively.

My Baby Clothes Boutique Product Review and Giveaway

My Baby Clothes Boutique

This is such a classic hat. It makes my little boy stylish! Fedoras are back! This hat is made to last. The material inside is so soft.

I got size 2-4, and it is a little big. Isaak has a tiny head. I'm sure it would fit most kids his age. I don't mind that it's a little big. It can just fit him longer.

I did get the wrong hat at first. I had to do a double take; that's how similar the other hat looked to the one we ordered. My Baby Clothes Boutique was so great about sending me a shipping label right away. I shipped it back with no cost from me! Then they got me the correct hat right away. :) They seriously have the best customer service!

I have to admit that I had a hard time deciding what to buy at My Baby Clothes Boutique. Everything is so fashionable. I love all their baby hats! I had to go through 10 of them with Daddy before we decided what to get.

My Baby Clothes Boutique has such cute baby head bands, baby clothes and if I had a little girl I'd be first in line to get one of their adorable tutus!

Elevator

Daddy made this elevator mostly out of Duplos and a few other things.

Scared of Spider Webs

Isaak walked into a spider web this summer and was terrified!

He's still scared of them! When he sees one, he points it out and moves FAR away from it.

Tonight he woke up twice already saying he had a dream about spider webs.

Mica's afraid of tornado's and Isaak's afraid of spider webs.
