Sexy Genius Daddy

  • Mica called Daddy, "sexy" then he called him a "genius". He's so into saying words he can't understand.
  • Not that Daddy isn't sexy and a genius! LOL

Tossed His Cookies

  • Isaak threw up all over the living room floor tonight. Mica kept saying, "Ahh he's throwing up again, and again"! Both Daddy and I were like, "We know Mica"! I think he thought Isaak should try and hit the bucket like we wanted him to. Although he missed too.
  • I'm so glad we have wood floors in situations like this.
  • Isaak acted all happy when he was done tossing his cookies.
  • Lots of clean up.
  • I'm glad this kid likes Pedialyte. Mica didn't want to touch it. I tried 1/2 water, 1/2 Pedialyte. Finally I got it down him with 1/2 Gatorade, 1/2 Pedialyte.
  • I still haven't gotten it. I've certainly been around everyone, so I'm surprised it hasn't hit me yet. If it is going to, I want it to now, so I don't miss work.

Please

  • Isaak now says please, "peez". You have to tell him to say, "Please" before he'll say it.

Time Out!

  • We started giving Isaak time outs! He gets them for throwing. Throwing is his biggest down fall right now.
  • I've read not to give time outs until they turn 2, but I think it depends on the kid.
  • Isaak stays there. In fact he knows where the spot is.
  • He sort of fiddles with his hands when he knows he's done wrong.
  • When he's free to come out of the time out spot, he hugs whom ever he got in trouble with. Mica always says, "Mommy he can't say, 'I'm sorry'". We encourage hugs, and he does know how to do that.

Sick Household

  • Mica vomited probably about 6 times evening and through the night yesterday. He sat around and watched PBS kids most of the day.
  • Daddy started feeling sick to his stomach in the middle of the night last night. He laid in bed with the door shut most of the morning.
  • Isaak didn't eat well today. He felt warm, but didn't have a fever. He wanted Mommy a lot today.
  • Mommy so far is not sick. Mommy did 4 loads of laundry, dishes, mulched leaves while the boys were down and gave Isaak lots of TLC.

Tummy Bug

  • I got a call at work from Grandpa Spiehs saying that Mica woke up from his nap, and there was throw up all over his bedding.
  • He gave him a bath.
  • Mica threw up a few more times before we picked him up.
  • We got him home, and now he's been throwing up bile. He's been drinking water and Pedialyte. I got him orange flavor because that is his favorite color, but he says it's gross. I may have to do part Pedialyte, part water.
  • I already requested tomorrow off of work.
  • I only hope that Grandma and Grandpa Spiehs and the rest of our family doesn't get this.

Finally - Sleep

  • After about a week and a half, Isaak has finally slept through the night.
  • I was beginning to feel like a first time parent.
  • I'd say that I'm rested up, but I think my body is still trying to catch up with the many nights of Isaak waking up 3 or 4 times.

UNO

  • I've been teaching Mica how to play UNO.
  • He needs help all along the way, but loves the game.
  • I don't just let him win, so sometimes he wins and sometimes I do. He doesn't like it when I win, but that's part of learning.
  • He's really good with his letters, but numbers have only recently been interesting to him.
  • He gets 6 and 9 mixed up, understandably so. I did too when I was little. The letters b and d are hard too!
  • I also have him dial numbers on the phone when I'm calling someone.

Chore Jar

  • Mica and I put together what we call a, Chore Jar. There are all kinds of tasks we thought up that can be done around the house. I wrote them down on slips of paper, and put them into a jar.
  • Mica pulls one out each night, and completes the chore. Some tasks we have to help him with of course.
  • He did a really great job helping me with laundry the other day! I had only clean clothing to put away. I set the clothing in piles and Mica put the ones away that went in his dresser and laid his shirts on his desk, so that I could hang them up. He put Isaak's clothing on Isaak's dresser for me.
  • Another night Mica pulled dishes out of the Chore Jar. He helped me put dishes into the dishwasher. I had to correct the placement of just about every dish, but he's learning. LOL
  • He also did a great job helping me pick up toys last night. As you can imagine the house has toys all over it after Daddy watches our kids and our nephew's Evan and Elijah. Mica's pretty particular about where things go, so he does better with cleaning up when Isaak's not around. Plus any kid likes it when an adult is participating with them. So far I've been responsible for the helping with the chore he pulls out.

Pain in the Neck

  • Mica's been saying, "You're such a pain in the neck". Of course sometimes it is out of context. I asked him this morning, "What does you're such a pain in the neck mean Mica?" He didn't know.
  • I thought he was getting it from Home Alone, although he hasn't seen that movie for a long while. Kevin gets called, a pain in the neck by his brother in the movie.
  • When we were about to leave Grandma and Grandpa Spiehs' house this morning Daddy said, "Man Isaak's been a real pain in the neck lately".
  • I'm thinking Mica gets this choice of words from Daddy!

Puzzle Time

  • Here is Mica putting together a 100 piece Melissa Doug Safari puzzle.
  • In the spring he sort of needed my help with it. To be honest, I think he just liked spending time with his mom. Now...he puts it together with or without mom at his side.
  • One of Mica's favorite puzzles right now is the construction puzzle that Aunt Becky gave him for his birthday. It reminds me of a Where's Waldo book. There is imagery everywhere.
  • The hard thing is finding puzzles challenging enough for this kid, but not too hard where he get frustrated.
  • Puzzles are one thing Mica is extremely good at.

Scrap Metal = Cash

  • Daddy took in some scrap metal to the scrap yard, he made around $350.
  • He's taking that money and investing it for more material to make jewelry.
  • We don't actually get $350 to spend, but that's $350 less that will come out of our pockets for him to make something that he can sell for more.

Last Night

  • We went yet another night where Isaak woke up 3 times.
  • I went in to get him one of the times; his blanket was off of him, he had it all bunched up and was gnawing on the fabric.
  • Usually I'm surprised about how he stays tucked in. He didn't stay tucked in last night.

Both Boys in the Pile

  • I know, an allergy sufferer's nightmare. But they had fun.
  • I found a few leaves in Isaak's diaper.
  • We took baths last night.

Isaak Sitting in the Leaves

  • At first Isaak didn't quite know what to think of sitting in a pile of leaves.
  • Soon enough he was throwing them left and right.

Mica Raking the Leaves

  • Mica kept raking with the rake upside down.
  • He finally figured it out.

Isaak?

  • I don't know what's going on with Isaak, other then teething? He seems to be one of those kids who cuts one or two at a time. Mica was the same way.
  • Isaak tried biting me twice yesterday (once on the shoulder and another on my leg). This is not something he tries, only maybe a few times way earlier when he was more of a baby.
  • He's been pulling the waking up in the middle of the night for the last week and a half. Last night was really bad he woke up 4 times, and was up for good at 5 AM.
  • He wouldn't nap yesterday very well at all.
  • He's needy, especially for me (Mommy)! He grabs onto my legs and begs for me to pick him up. When he's like this if I'm busy I refuse to pick him up. If I'm not busy then I try and give him attention. Then he will turn around and be a great kid for a long while.
  • He doesn't have a fever, but has had those teething poops and tried to bite me a few times.
  • We're tired! So much for gaining an hour of sleep. With kids that theory doesn't work too well.

Tiny Tongs

  • I had to blog about this giveaway because I have never seen a product like this before.
  • This would make an excellent baby gift!
  • I could see a toddler/preschooler having fun eating a snack with tongs!
  • One winner can win one pair of Tiny Tongs at Give Away Addicted Mommy!
