Travis and His Mom, "Grandma Apel"

  • I think Isaak looks like Travis.

Bean Stock

  • This is one of those embarrassing stories. Mica said this morning that his penis was growing like a bean stock. I thought it was really funny.
  • A 3 year old that doesn't quite understand his anatomy yet.

Ooooucchhhhh!!!!!!

  • Isaak was playing in the kitchen and I came in to see what he was doing. I had my shirt off just to be comfortable. When I squat down to play with him, he pulls himself up to me (grabbing my nipple hair as a handle.) Ooooucchhh!!!!! Oh, by the way, this is his father.

Cereal

  • Isaak had Cheerios with momma milk this morning, and loved it.
  • We may have to use up the rest of his baby cereal to thicken up foods that are too runny. He doesn't want it any more.

Exercises

  • Travis does leg lifts with Isaak. I need to get on this band wagon.
  • I do arm curls with him; and chew on his ribs to tickle him as he comes up. I get exercise and hear giggles.

Isaak's Song

  • I Want You by the Beatles is the song I sing to Isaak. Except I sing:
  • He wants me
  • He wants me so bad it's driving him mad, it's driving him mad...
  • Then I lift him up so high and sing:
  • He's so heavy!...
  • Another song we sing every once in awhile is Cherry Poppin Daddies, Zoot Suit Riot:
  • Zoot Suit Riot
  • Throw back a bottle of milk...

YES!

  • I can now fit in more pants sitting up in my closet!
  • Some in my dresser are too big!
  • Yet another benefit to breast feeding!

Tea

  • A guy that works at my work once a week noticed that I had tea sitting on my shelf at work. He pointed to it, and said, "Hey I drink that tea all the time". I just sort of laughed inside because it's Mother's Milk tea to promote healthy lactation.
  • He probably drinks that same brand, but not the Mother's Milk variety.
  • By the way, the tea is really good.

Breakfast

  • I think in a few weeks Isaak will give up baby cereal for good. He kept turning his head away, when I'd try and give him a bite this morning.
  • Then he was pointing at Travis' banana to have that instead. The pointing thing is fairly new.
  • He loves his finger foods.

The Battle of the Tippy Cup

  • Last week I sent a tippy cup for Isaak to have at my parents. He's taken a cup for us for around two months. He did fine with one at my sister's house. I don't think my mom even gave it to him last week. I don't think she's ready for the baby in the family to grow up. I'm not ready for him to grow up either, but the boy is almost one. I don't want to give him cow's milk in a bottle. He's getting more teeth, and a bottle is not good for them either.
  • My mom just loves holding the baby in the family, giving him a bottle, and cuddling him asleep.
  • He gets that sucking time at night from me. I still try and put him to bed before he falls asleep, so he can self sooth.
  • My mom loves her baby Isaak.

Commercial's

  • Mica is begining to understand the power of advertising.
  • At our family Easter celebration he was singing the commercial, "Save big money at Menards".
  • Last night after seeing a Red Lobster commercial he said, "I want to go to Red Lobster".

Happy Easter

  • Easter morning was fun. Mica loved the scavenger hunt that the Easter Bunny made up. At each station, there was one clue inside a golden egg to move onto the next golden egg. At the end, there were the prizes. It was fun seeing him run around really excited.
  • The Easter Bunny left Isaak Puffs in Elmo eggs on the floor. He managed to get 2 of them open; he was having a feast of Puffs.
  • At Aunt Sam's the kids had another Easter Egg Hunt. That one was outside. We'll have a stash of candy for awhile. Mommy and Daddy will have to share.
  • Isaak was a pain in the BUTT at my aunts house. He only wanted me (his Mom). Even when Daddy came over from work, Isaak wanted nothing to do with him. Grandpa Spiehs had no success either. If anyone even looked at him, he was in tears, and reaching for me. I was so tired. We came home, and Isaak had a big poop blow out. He stuck his hands in the poop, then got them on his socks; it was a mess. Happy Easter.

Birthday Party

  • We went to a birthday party for my friend Debbie's one year old on Sat. It was in Gretna, which is not an area I go to. It seemed like it took us forever to get there. I'm sure it didn't help that Mica kept asking, "When are we getting to Joey's birthday party Mom?" over and over.
  • The party was very nice. I love seeing kids eat cake for the first time. I think it's funny that everyone is so worried about when babies can have different foods; then as soon as they turn a year old, almost anything goes.
  • Both boys must of been tired. They both fell asleep in the car ride back. That is very rare. I shot pictures, but on the film camera.

Ring

  • I got into my car on Friday to go to work; there was a ring in the dashboard! Travis made me another ring. It's really cool. It's enameled red, has lines in it, and 7 gold bezel set diamonds; for 7 years of marriage. Very cool!

Date Night

  • We went out on a date Friday. No younger person has ever watched Isaak, so I wondered how Isaak would get along with my niece Kailey.
  • I guess he did good; except when it was time to go to sleep. The boy usually fights it. Most of the time it ends up where Isaak nurses, then I put him in the crib, and he cries for 10 min to go to sleep. Sometimes I have to go back in to hold him; then put him down again. He's nothing like Mica; who has always laid down, and rarely cried. I guess Kailey struggled with him a little. She was trying to find a binky to sooth him; not realising that he's weaned from it. Poor girl, that was one thing I didn't tell her.
  • In my mind if Isaak only cried for 10-15 min. all night, I think he did pretty good. Mica was great. He helped Kailey out. He loves when she comes to watch him. He can't wait until we go out again.

Monster

  • When my sister Terra came to pick up the boys on Friday, Evan came out of Mica's room to see her. He was excited to see his mom, but had to run back into Mica's room to shut his bedroom door.
  • According to Evan, Mica says that his bedroom door has to stay shut, so that the monster, Isaak doesn't get in.
  • Evan is really afraid of monsters, and said that Isaak is scary.
  • Mica has this thing where he calls even me a monster; he says, "Mommy Monster!" and runs away. Silly boy!!!
